A simple, clean design will look good in most any decor, but will look particularly sharp in a modern room.  Look for a candle holder with a simple shape like a cylinder, a rectangular shape, or a swirl.  Likewise, a simple design as opposite to an elaborate one typically fits better into a modern decor.
